Teacher Mentorship

MENTORSHIP:  learning from someone who wants you to grow

In our nearly 40 year careers, including the past 20 years as yoga teachers and studio operators, we’ve had countless opportunities to teach, guide, and support others on their unique paths of growth.  We’ve always found that the more we share of ourselves, the more we grow our own skills and understanding. It’s a joy to undertake these enriching relationships and they have been a fundamental part of Om on the Range’s success. Plus, it’s helped launch a number of spirited teachers and studios around the country. The dynamic nature of mentorship — coaching, advising, collaborating — supercharges the process of individual development.

The Mentoring Program

On an ongoing basis, we offer a formalized mentorship program to a small group of Om friends who are getting into teaching yoga — either they recently completed a training program or are in the midst of one.   They seek one-on-one connection with accessible, seasoned, professional teachers.   They seek an opportunity to refresh and reignite their yoga experience..  They seek a community of fellow teachers.  They seek to enhance their intentionality as a teacher/student.

We’ve developed a 4-session program that embodies the mentoring process. Each session begins with yoga practice. The mentorship group attends this class together to practice as well as to engage with a selected “teacher topic”  during the class.    After a short break, the co-hort group will meet for about an hour with focus on a Mentoring Topic.    The focus of these sessions include:   Teacher Leadership Development, Personal Inquiry around Teaching and Personal Practice,  Practice Teaching and Cueing as well assists (verbal as well as hands-on).   Plus, there will be freedom to address teacher-related topics as they arise.  Past sessions have been held outside in the Yoga Yard at our home in Roscoe Village.  If inclement weather, we have space to move inside.   The group is small, with a likely range of 2 - 6 experienced yogis.   Program fee is $600.

Our personal goal is to continue what we have done for two decades — foster teachers that are connected, playful, encouraging, knowledgable, curious and genuine.    If you think might be interested, please email us as mentoring@omontherange.net and share a brief email about your interest including:

  • why are you interested in mentoring with us

  • what are you goals in doing so

  • anything else you think we should know about you, your experience with yoga, life experience or anything you choose

We’d like to connect with you about creating a program that works for you.
